Mountaineers win CHSL title

   Two-time defending Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 champion and No. 2-ranked Clarkston Everest Collegiate won its fourth straight Catholic High School League Division 2 boys golf championship on Monday, May 14, at Oakland University.

   Everest dominated the tournament with a score of 311 on the day. Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard was a distant second at 369. Allen Park Cabrini finished third at 373.

 

  Junior Mitch Lowney earned medalist honors for Everest, shooting 68. Senior Nick Korns shot 77, his sister, junior Mia Korns, shot 84. Senior J.C. James finished at 82. Junior Rodrigo Denigris shot 88 and junior Kevin Meehan finished at 89.

   Everest begins their quest for a third-straight state title when they compete in the MHSAA Division 4, Region 23 tournament on Thursday, May 31, at Whitmore Lake Golf Links.
